Hundreds of kids hit the courts for Cancer Challenge
Hundreds of players took to the netball courts across Sydney on Sunday 27th July and Sunday 3rd August 2008 all in the name of charity for the inaugural Cure our Kids Netball Cancer Challenge.
Six associations participated in the series and raised a combined total of nearly $37,290 through team registrations, merchandise and sausage sizzles for Cure Our Kids and the Oncology Unit for the Children’s Hospital Westmead.
Charlestown, Eastwood Ryde, Baulkham Hills, Northern Suburbs, Manly Warringah and Coffs Harbour Netball Associations fielded a total of 350 teams between them, all playing their hearts out to raise money for kids with cancer.
Cure Our Kids CEO Carolyn Dodds was out and about taking in all the action and was thrilled with the enthusiasm of the teams.
“It was a fantastic carnival atmosphere, the associations have done such a brilliant job pulling it all together and the teams were just busting to play, they had a ball and I just can’t thank everyone enough – they’ve all been amazing,” said Carolyn.
The next round of the Challenge is Sunday 24th August when Kurri Kurri hold their carnival and Sunday 11th October when Cobar hold theirs.
