Family Gatherings

Tuesday, 1st December 2009

Families at the Children's Hospital at Westmead were treated to a great day out at the first Family Gathering of 2009!
The hot weather didn't deter over 70 patients, parents & volunteers filling Egret pavilion at Sydney Olympic Park on Saturday the 28th of November.

They were treated to a scrumptious lunch, drinks, Christmas crackers and had a blast playing games out in the sun including an egg and spoon race!

Thanks goes to QBE and all our volunteers who did a superb job helping out on the day!!

Fun was also taking place at the Central Coast where another gathering was simultaneously being held. This time kids were welcomed to a long table filled with Christmas craft that they could play with.

One mother who attended the Central Coast Gathering wrote this letter of appreciation to Cure Our Kids:

"...I walked out of the room today with so much hope, which has been the first time since living with cancer,
my other children had a great time to the point that we nearly left one behind because she was having so much fun with the other kids. ha, ha
the one thing that was a stand out for me was that Aimee (Hodgkin's lymphoma) didn't feel out of place, for me, i don't let her out of my sight, I'm scared that she will get knocked over or hurt
some how, but today it felt ok to let her be HER, I didn't have to be right beside her every second, i thank you all for that from the bottom of my heart."
