Music therapy involves the use of music to help improve health, well-being and quality of life. Music therapy can help children develop new skills - musical and non-musical - and bring about changes that may be extended to other areas of daily life. It is based on the belief that all people have the potential to respond to music, and that music can be intrinsically healing in nature. Music therapists are trained to use music in a planned and creative way, to bring about change and growth. All children respond to music and for many it can be comforting and familiar in surroundings that are often difficult to adjust to.
For the last 4 years, the proceeds of market rock, an event organised by ICAP Australia, have funded this important position. |
