Hundreds of kids hit the courts for Cancer Challenge

Hundreds of players took to the netball courts across Sydney last Sunday all in the name of charity for the inaugural Cure our Kids Netball Cancer Challenge.

Three associations participated in the first round of the series and raised a combined total of nearly $20,000 through team registrations, merchandise and sausage sizzles for Cure Our Kids and the Oncology Unit for the Children’s Hospital Westmead.

Charlestown, Eastwood Ryde and Baulkham Hills Netball Associations fielded a total of 200 teams between them, all playing their hearts out to raise money for kids with cancer.

Cure Our Kids CEO Carolyn Dodds was out and about taking in all the action and was thrilled with the enthusiasm of the teams.

“It was a fantastic carnival atmosphere, the associations have done such a brilliant job pulling it all together and the teams were just busting to play, they had a ball and I just can’t thank everyone enough – they’ve all been amazing,” said Carolyn.

The next round of the Challenge is Sunday 3 August when Coffs Harbour, Manly and Northern Suburbs hold their carnivals.
